Preparation and characterization of highly elongated polydimethylsiloxane nanosheets

Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is a biocompatible polymer that exhibits high flexibility and heat resistance. PDMS can be rapidly cross-linked at low temperatures by platinum-catalyzed addition reaction used to create nanostructures owing its formability. In this study, free-standing thin films (PDMS nanosheets) were fabricated characterized. nanosheets, about 90–2500 nm thick, prepared using microgravure coater. The mechanical properties of the nanosheets depended on amount cross-linker added in preparation. For example, 93-nm-thick nanosheet showed with elongation break 338% Young's modulus 0.46 MPa. adhesion strength was also dependent cross-linker, lesser higher strength. no change physical when annealed 150°C. Flexible, adhesive, heat-resistant demonstrated as substrate for skin-contact strain sensors resistance changes 20%–30% response skin stretching.
